Origin BJJ is now a member of the UKBJJA, which is an established not-for-profit, democratically run organization that has been working with Sport England for a long time to become the officially recognized governing body for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the UK. The organization offers several benefits for clubs and members, including public liability insurance for clubs, member-to-member insurance for individual members, ranked tournaments, and more.
Earlier this year, the UKBJJA sent the highest ranked athletes from each weight class to the IBJJF European Open. They have plans to offer more support to more athletes, of all ages, in the future.
The UKBJJA are doing great work, and we recommend that anyone who plans to compete on a regular basis, or anyone who wants to support British competitors, becomes a member of the association. Membership costs just £10 a year, which is a great deal compared to NGB membership in many other sports, and you can sign up online.
Registration is not compulsory, and you can continue to train and compete without it, however we encourage those who are able to do so to support this association and the work they are doing.
